'The Shape Of Things To Come Part 2' is now up in the video section - take a look!

Death Prophetic – the end of the loudness war?

Filed in

September was a bit of a quiet month in terms of website updates, but lots has been happening behind the scenes. Despite some holidays and a fair amount of day-job strife, the four of us managed to make some good progress with new song ideas at rehearsals, which has been really enjoyable (the working titles of 'Soundgarden' and 'Joy Division' give a clue as to what we think they sound like...).

Changing times..

Firstly Id like to wish Tim all the best for the future, he was with us for just over a year and contributed some fantastic bass lines to the new album - we all very much appreciate the work he did when he was with the band. So, we're looking ahead as a 4 piece and we've been having some very productive writing sessions indeed. I don’t know where its all coming from but its certainly flowing at the moment! It can be difficult sometimes when there are so many potential new songs floating around, as at some point you've actually got to make some firm decisions about what in and what’s not.

Life in the old dog yet

When the past few weeks have brought apocalyptic flooding and music festival wash-outs, you know you must be in the middle of a British summertime! Talking of the festivals, this is the first year for a while that I’ve not gone along to Reading, but looking at the line-up, I had a definite sense of deja-vu – Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, The Killers? Maybe it’s a bit of jealousy at not going, but despite there being some great bands on the bill, I’m pretty sure they’ve all headlined there before.

In the works - single/video/gigs....

First of all, I have to say hats off once again to Paul on this lovely new site - it really is great stuff! If you've had a browse through the videos you will hopefully have come across 'the shape of things to come' - I'll be adding more videos like this as album 2 nears completion over the coming months, as you can see we've really been stuck into the writing and recording so far this year.

We've also decided to release the first ever ACAS single, which we're hoping to have out before album, sometime soon. The single will most likely be an online release only and will coincide with the video for the song which was shot and edited earlier in the year. We're mixing the single version of the track at the moment, more news on this very shortly....

Bass lines

It's been a little while since the last update, but plenty has been going on behind the scenes. A number of new and promising songs have been emerging at our rehearsal sessions, and each of us is continuing to record our parts in the lengthy process of making album no. 2.
This week Tim will be adding his brilliant bass part to a song known as Thailand until we can think of a proper name for it. A little video clip of this will hopefully appear on the site shortly...

Sound and vision....

Finally, finally the time has come where I can say that a brand spanking new ACAS video is well under way - hooray! It's been far too long after the one (and only) video that accompanied 'Evacuate'. Now as things have moved on so much, with a new album half way completed I wanted to get in early with production on the first new video. The idea came about in December and the concept warrants a lot of filming in public spaces, not including members of the band, so basically I've been stealing shots as and when for the last few months. As the New Year came about I started lining up individual shoots with each of the band, and these have now all been completed with the exception of old muggins here.

Qui support slot

Thanks to everyone who joined us on Friday night at the Freebutt to watch our support slot for Ipecac act Qui. With us getting added to the bill with 3 days to go, the preparation for the show was a little hectic to say the least, but the gig was a good one and it was great to play our first show in the newly refurbished venue.

Ex-Jesus Lizard frontman David Yow's peformance was suitably manic and really fun (if a bit intimidating) to watch first-hand. Him offering one of the audience a dollar bill to go and buy him a bottle of Budvar was a highlight...

Recording drums

Recording for the next ACAS release resumed yesterday, with Grant laying down a drum track for new song 'Yourself'. As ever, he did a sterling job, the results of which were edited earlier today. More drums to go down next week...
