Filling in the gaps
Have just returned from rehearsal. We spent the 3 hours stitching together the disparate bits and pieces of a new song that was begun last year some time... it was a difficult one that contains some really good riffs and chord progressions that we couldn't bring ourselves to throw away. Sometimes songs just come together without too much soul-searching; oftentimes, however, they need lots of persevering. So it was really satisifying tonight to be able to come up with some new little sections to stitch all the bits together, and it was a good joint effort. I probably shouldn't be celebrating this fact, but I think this song (which was temporarily called "Soundgarden" when it was started, although it doesn't sound much like them any more) contains our first mini-key change as well.
Anyway, a good job all round and looking forward to recording it shortly. Speaking of recording, we have decided that we will almost certainly release each and every track from the album for free online. Once all the tracks are out there in cyberspace, we'll put together a special CD album version together as well for those who want that too.
"Soundgarden" was the last of the songs that needed additional arrangement work doing – we now have all other tracks written and in various stages of recording completion. You've already had a chance to hear and download "Words for the Living" (or if you haven't, it's in the bonus section) – the second song to be finished is "All the Wasted Hours" (and a very early rehearsal recording of that's up in the bonus section too). Expect it in days rather than weeks...
Where's the free stuff?!
