Another step towards getting the next track out for Christmas...we spent most of yesterday re-recording the vocals for Big Ideas. Im glad we did it as the old takes were from 4 years ago and were a bit rough around the edges. However, the song isn't an easy one to sing over and over it was one hell of a slog (sorry Paul)! The new keyboard lines Steve layed down last week are sounding good, now its over to Paul to get all the guitars and mixing finished, theres a lot to be done!

Meanwhile I've got a couple of weeks to get a video together...

Big Ideas vocals

Ahh the English countryside, the rolling hills and beautiful views... or the pissing rain and murky skies of a wet Sunday afternoon in Alfriston. Yes, the filming of the Green Scenery video was somewhat of a battle against the elements, luck was certainly not on our side that day in late September.

The mixing of the Green Scenery audio was nearing completion, but we had run out of time to get some of our grand video ideas into action, so we agreed that something more simple to fit with the track was required if we were to maintain a steady release of material from the new album. In the weeks leading up to the day of filming, the weather had been amazing, lovely long shadows on the ground, leaves starting to fall and a bright, low, autumn sunshine. So, it seemed a perfect time to get out and shoot some nice shots of the band outdoors for a change, as this was surely the most fitting track for such an excursion. Read more »

I've just finished the cut for the new video and am rather looking forward to posting it up in the next few days! We'll be locking down the audio mix tomorrow evening, watch this space for some lovely new stuff coming right up..

If like me, you've been eagerly awaiting the new series of House then you may have encountered the great treat of Radiohead's 'No Surprises' becoming the new theme song to the show!

I suspect that this may have been a guest musical companion to the credits, so to tie in with the rather dramatic circumstances poor old House finds himself stuck in as the episode opens, but still this was a perfect match if you ask me!

Ive had some great feedback from a few folks on the facebook group about the new video for All The Wasted Hours, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and it's always great to hear any thoughts on what we're up to! The video was a bit of an experiment really, it might not notice to most viewers (except for Moog) but I tried out a new way of shooting, this time using glass lenses on the camera, instead of the usual video lens. Its a bit of a convoluted process as I built an adapter to enable me to shoot through stills photography lenses to achieve this, it makes a great image but meant we had to shoot the whole thing upside down and back to front in the viewfinder! We shot a video for new song 'All The Wasted Hours' the other night. It was a lot of fun and will be up here for you to see very soon!

The last few weeks have seen me get back behind the mic recording some of the newest material. We've now got one of the newest songs 'All The Wasted Hours' into excellent shape, I heard the guitars that Paul has recorded this week and they sounded amazing. However last night we were lucky enough to get into a 'real' studio for a vocal session on one of the older tracks which was gigged quite a bit in 2007 - 'Mute' (working title). Read more »

We recently ventured out into deepest, darkest Hailsham for some new band pics to celebrate the release of 'Words for the Living.'
 

We posted a new video today - its for one of the new songs we've been working on for the album. The song is called 'Words for the Living', its in the bonus section of the site here, along with the mp3 and cover pic.
 
The video was a lot of fun to make and actually started a long time ago (much like this album!). The idea was not to release this as the 1st single but more of a stop gap, just so we could fill the void between the albums and put out something new while we work away at finishing the other songs.
