Thank you

Just a quick note to thank those of you who've bitten the bullet and downloaded our first album from iTunes - we really appreciate your support and rest assured the funds are going straight back into the recording budget for album 2 (think of it as an investment!). These things always work out more expensive than you think.

Also, a quick note to let you know that Ross has set up an ACAS YouTube channel (we use Vimeo for the vids on this site as they give you a better quality) but we'll be adding all the vids to YouTube as well going forwards for those of you who prefer it. Read more »

Back in the booth

The last few weeks have seen me get back behind the mic recording some of the newest material. We've now got one of the newest songs 'All The Wasted Hours' into excellent shape, I heard the guitars that Paul has recorded this week and they sounded amazing. However last night we were lucky enough to get into a 'real' studio for a vocal session on one of the older tracks which was gigged quite a bit in 2007 - 'Mute' (working title). Read more »

Vocal recording and nipple stroking

citizenpaul's picture

Last night's recording session went very well. We relocated from our home studio to a pro studio in Brighton for the evening. We always tend to work better under a deadline and the pressure was certainly on, as we only had around 4 hours to try and lay down all the vocals for a 7-minute song - working title of Mute (an early live video is here). But Ross managed to nail his takes very quickly all things considered. In fact the biggest delay was trying to get the studio computer monitors to recognise my computer tower...

Studio bound

Despite radio silence for the past week or two, plenty has been going on behind the scenes – recording sessions aplenty have been focused on working up the album version of All the Wasted Hours (a rough rehearsal recording of which we posted in the bonus section a few months ago). As with Words for the Living, we plan to let you hear the song as soon as it's finished as a taster for the album.

Friday update #2 – New rehearsal images

citizenpaul's picture

We realised that we haven't posted any rehearsal images for the last 2 years (how time flies...), so this week's Friday update is a new set of shots we took at a recent practice of the new material we're recording at the moment. See for yourself whether we've aged...

Evacuate: The Brighton Source review

Evacuate

Some high concept stuff here, as ACAS apparently chart the ascent of man from his arrival on Earth to witnessing it blowing up as he flees in the last departing spaceship to start again somewhere else. No doubt that’s thanks to our wasteful and reproachful lifestyle during the planet’s dying days. It’s intense, brooding stuff, musically along the same lines as your Muses and your early Radioheads, and whatever you read into the back-story of the songs it’s good to see the concept album alive and well in the 21st Century. The Friday Freebie – new making-of video

citizenpaul's picture

This week's Friday site update is a new compilation of rehearsal footage recorded earlier this month. Check it out here. Bit of a weird one, this – we put a camera on each of the four of us for a few songs and the result is a real-time split-screen affair, "24"-style!

The Shape of Things to Come - Part 3

Some footage from recent rehearsals to give a taster of three upcoming songs... two video cameras + two carefully balanced mobile phones = split-screen weirdness!

New pics online

We recently ventured out into deepest, darkest Hailsham for some new band pics to celebrate the release of 'Words for the Living.'
