Words for the Living: brand new free mp3 download and video

admin's picture

We've updated the site today with a couple of our very own ACAS Easter eggs: a brand new song from our forthcoming second album.

It's called 'Words for the Living', and both the mp3 download and video are accessible from the site's bonus section (or, if you're already logged in, you'll find them on the front page). You will need to register with the site to access these if you are not already a member – registration is quick, easy and free to all (and we will not pass on your information to any third parties).

More information on the song itself and the making of the video can be found in the latest blogs, but for now, we hope you enjoy this taste of what's to come on the next album. As ever, let us know what you think by leaving us some comments.

Making 'Words for the Living'

citizenpaul's picture

Well, we've finally posted a new song... and it only took 381 days from the completion of recording to its release today! It was a tough one, but now that we've got it out there, I hope we'll be on a bit of a roll. The last week saw the completion of mixing and mastering, and it proved to be a bit of a frustrating process, but one that I reckon was worth it.

New video - Words for the Living

citizenross's picture

We posted a new video today - its for one of the new songs we've been working on for the album. The song is called 'Words for the Living', its in the bonus section of the site here, along with the mp3 and cover pic.

The video was a lot of fun to make and actually started a long time ago (much like this album!). The idea was not to release this as the 1st single but more of a stop gap, just so we could fill the void between the albums and put out something new while we work away at finishing the other songs.

Album 2 - new rehearsal recording up in the bonus section

citizenpaul's picture

We thought we ought to finally let you in on what we've been up to all this time – check out the bonus section to hear an early version of one of the new songs. We've put it in the bonus section as it's a work-in-progress recording recorded live in the rehearsal room late last year.

This was a first rehearsal run-through before the lyrics and vocals were added, and is all very rough around the edges. The music is kind of inspired by latterday Morrissey mixed with Queens of the Stone Age. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Website update

citizenpaul's picture

We've recently done a slight update to the design of the website to enhance usability - the front page now displays a random selection of the videos and audio files available on the site to quickly help you choose some content to watch / listen to in detail, rather than reading all the text! It would be unfair of me not to mention last.fm as one of the influences - I love that site!
Hope you like it - feel free to comment on this and give us any more feedback on what you'd like to see. Remember there is extra audio and video content available in the 'bonus' section. Read more »

Rock band with debut album

Source:
South Downs Living

The quiet country village of Hassocks, nestled at the foot of the South Downs, may not be the obvious breeding ground for rock bands. At this time of year, the village has held all its Summer Fairs and pupils at its three schools are getting ready for the Autumn term. However, this summer has also seen the release of the debut album from local rock band A Citizen Above Suspicion.

The Fly magazine – Evacuate review

Evacuate

Four tracks by this young Hassocks prog band, taken from a self-produced concept album that charts man's evolution from the dawn of history to eventually leaving the planet. ‘The Infirmary' is intense and anthemic like a less precious Muse, while ‘Slow Collapse' is all swirling gothic keyboards and tortured crooning. ‘No-man's Land' is the sound of Earth exploding in slow motion, seen from the last departing spacecraft. Brave, imaginative stuff.

The High Order

Moulding the eerie, comic sounds of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas and The Dillinger Escape Plan) with the dark, brooding sounds of Marilyn Manson (but not in a Goth way as such) and the crazy fairground/Jazz keyboard elements of Frank Zappa or Dog Fashion Disco, A Citizen Above Suspicion aren't your average UK band.

What they are doing is cutting edge because its not, if ya get what I mean!

The High Order

The welcomed arrival of some new material from West Sussex band - A Citizen Above Suspicion - and news that sparked quite a bit of interest here after the enjoyment of their debut last year. On this latest EP there's a re-recording of the poignant "Calculi" plus three new songs which only go further to developing the unusual and distinctive sound of this band. Read more »
